Valley of Fire Rock Spiral

Valley of Fire State Park just one and a half hours away from downtown Las Vegas.

I will be giving a presentation on Digital Image Storage and Backup Fundamentals for the Nevada Camera Club on February 14th at 7pm. I will be discussing essential image storage concepts for digital photographers. This short presentation will focus on ways to build a reliable, scalable, and redundant image storage system without spending a fortune. My presentation is designed to answer two basic questions that plague all of us:

  1. What will I do when I run out of storage space for more images inside of my computer?
  2. How can I protect my images from hard drive failure or natural disaster?

This one and a half hour-long presentation is free and open to the general public. Click here for more details and directions.

Las Vegas Area Inspired Sample Video Tutorial: Using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5′s New Radial Filter Tool To Add Power To A Foreground Element

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5’s new Radial Filter tool is a great way to create off-center vignettes and spotlight important areas of your image. The Radial Filter behaves much like Photoshop Lightroom’s traditional Graduated Filter but its effects are circular, or elliptical, allowing us to create local adjustments with a circular mask and a feathered falloff zone. Watch how I use the new Radial Filter to make the foreground of this Valley of Fire image pop with color and contrast.
