Using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4′s New Book Module to Create a PDF Portfolio
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta’s New Book Module
When I heard about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta’s new Book Module I was not too excited. I thought that it could only be used to prepare books for printing from Blurb.com. Ordering nice bound books of my photography is great, but this is not something that I do on a regular basis and I thought I would rarely use it.Once I started experimenting, though, I quickly discovered that you can also use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta’s new Book Module to create your own PDF “portfolio pieces” that combine images and words! This is not a replacement for Adobe InDesign or a professional-grade page layout program, but it is a wonderful new way for me to share my photography with friends, students, and clients.
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta’s new export to PDF via the Book Module made it easy for me to put together this PDF portfolio without having to buy and learn any additional software. Right click on this link to download my Landscape Portfolio PDF!
One of my favorite digital landscape photographers, Jim M. Goldstein, has been distributing his best images this way for a few years. Goldstein has also written an excellent eBook on Photographing the 4th Dimension-Time. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta’s book module is not powerful enough to make a professional-looking eBook yet, but it is already more than adequate for creating nice portfolio pieces. This video tutorial demonstrates the “Export to PDF from Book Module” process.
I must again warn you that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta is still a beta program. It’s new and not everything works properly yet. The Book Module, in particular, is full of oddities and unexpected behavior. Try it out, but please don’t forget that this is very, very new and still has a few kinks to be worked out before we get the finished product.

Can you make an Amazon book w LR4 yet?
Dear Yucel,
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4′s book module is designed for use with Blurb. You cannot use it to build an Amazon book directly but I believe that you could export your project as a pdf and then do more work using a higher end layout program like Adobe InDesign to re-purpose the content for Amazon’s system.

Thanks that was helpful (especially setting up add page favorites) as I am just starting to test out the Book module and see what it will do.
Greetings,
