We all need a little inspiration in our day! It was my search for photographic inspiration that got me started down the road to professional photography and that led me into the world of digital imaging. I feel really blessed that I have been able to surround myself with wonderfully talented photographers for the past decade while working at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana. It has been great for me and now I am delighted to report that one of my colleagues– Ms. Eileen Rafferty–has created her own quarterly publication about photography and the artistic process. Best of all, her beautiful magazine is available to anyone anywhere now thanks to the internet!
If you are seeking something interesting to read then may I recommend Butterflies and Anvils: A Photographic Journal about Inspiration and Art. To be clear, this is not a “how-to” magazine. There are no articles in here about the latest or the greatest new camera gadgets. This is not the kind of magazine that goes for flashy graphics and silly side-bar tips. This is not a publication about what’s popular in photography but rather a place where you can find articles, artist portfolios, interviews, and detailed musings on the deeper reasons why we photograph.
You can preview the journal online and order your own copy at HP’s MagCloud website.
In the interest of full disclosure, TheLightroomLab.com is happy to promote this publication because we support Eileen’s efforts and we believe in her endeavor to create a high-quality printed publication in today’s instant digital world. We believe in this project because Eileen’s teaching, and her art, has enriched our lives and inspired our work for many years!
