Adobe Labs

Adobe has posted the release candidate versions of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.7 and Camera Raw 5.7 on the Adobe Labs website. The direct links to information and download are http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Lightroom_2.7 and http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Camera_Raw_5.7.

The ‘release candidate’ label indicates that these updates are well-tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers. The Lightroom team would like the community to help verify the quality of this update through normal usage as this will ensure that the application is tested on a diversity of hardware and software configurations not available internally at Adobe.

If you do experience an issue with this release candidate please report it here: Bug Report Form

  1. Skip,

Sounds like you got some good advice. I’d remove my photos from the hard drive (copy them to a temporary location like your local Macintosh HD), format the drive as Macintosh OS Extended (Journaled) using the Disk Utility program, and then move your images back to the drive. As long as the files and folders are in the same structure when you copy them back over, you should have no trouble in Lightroom.

Here are a few articles you may want to review before you begin the process:

Perusing the comments in those articles can be helpful, too, as lots of troubleshooting discussions occur there.

    Hi Scott,
Perhaps you can help me. I’m switching from PC to iMAC with my external hard drives. I cannot write to the drives from Mac lightroom because they are formatted to pc (NTF).

I went to mac folks and they said take all photos off external drive and reformat to mac. Will lightroom on mac recognize the photos once the drive is reformatted.

I want to be sure about this before I begin the process.

Thanks in advance for your help
