I feel your pain. I’m happy to answer any specific questions you may have. What I’ve tried to do is compile the available statistics and images from Apple’s website along with my thoughts and opinions…

“The 17-inch MacBook Pro is a great desktop replacement. When I see a 17-inch model after staring for hours at my 15-inch Mac, I feel like I’m watching a movie in a theatre! I kid, of course, but the 17-inch display is strikingly large for a laptop. That large display comes at a price, of course. Weight. A full pound (0.45 kg) heavier than the 15-inch MacBook Pro, the 17-inch model also calls for a non-standard carrying case in most circumstances.”

…to help people decide what machine they may be interested in.

Unfortunately, we don’t have access to each of the new models for real world testing, although we’re happy to share other’s experiences on the site.

Any of these three new models will run Lightroom just fine. Of course, the better processor and more RAM one can afford to add, the better performance they’ll receive.

I answered you already on Twitter, but I’ll put the answer here, as well, in case anyone’s looking for it.

The antiglare display (which I prefer) does still have the grey aluminum frame rather than the black glass-to-the-edge effect that the glossy displays have. Apple includes the helpful note when choosing your screen type at the Apple Online Store:

“The actual size of the display is the same on both models. The antiglare display has a silver frame (border) around the display.”
