Lightroom 2.6 and Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 Release Candidates Available
Adobe has posted the release candidate versions of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.6 and Camera Raw 5.6 on the Adobe Labs website. The direct links to information and download are http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Lightroom_2.6 and http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Camera_Raw_5.6.
The ‘release candidate’ label indicates that these updates are well-tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers. The Lightroom team would like the community to help verify the quality of this update through normal usage as this will ensure that the application is tested on a diversity of hardware and software configurations not available internally at Adobe.

so, i tried what i guess is a limited uninstall of 2.6 by moving the icon in applications to the trash (although i am not quite sure how to completely uninstall, there does not appear to be any information regarding that) and reinstalling 2.5 in the hope that i would then be able to export files but no dice. i get the same message. can anyone tell me how to completely uninstall so that i can do a fresh install and hopefully solve the problem that way. please help!!!!
Dear Tod and Zorn,
I can’t find anything on your troubles so I suggest asking the good folks over at http://www.lightroomforums.net for help. I too am running Lightroom 2.6 on a Mac but I am not having any of these problems nor could I find anything on this problem at the Adobe in-house help site either.
This makes me think that the trouble here might be due to “pilot error.” I have to ask here do the file’s that you are trying to export have little question marks in the top right corner when you look at them in Grid Mode in the Library Module? If so then your files are “missing” or “offline” which means that you have broken the link between the original file and its entry in your Lightroom database. Since Lightroom can’t find the file it makes perfect sense to me that it can’t export the file.
Please click here for instructions on how to completely uninstall Lightroom but beware! Removing your catalog means starting all over from scratch and removing the registration file means that you will have to key in your serial number again. I would not go to this extreme if I were you until the community help, Adobe tech support, and all other resources have failed you.
When you find the answer to this problem please come back and share it with us.
best of luck,
David
tod, I am having a similar issue. since installing 2.6 whenever I try to export I get the message “a file is not located at the specified path” I have tried to export to different locations, including my desktop, external harddrive and usb drives to no avail. currently running on a power pc G4 laptop running Mac OSx 10.4.11 help!!!!
Hi all, I down loaded 2.6 and now I have an issue with export. When I have selected my list of photos to export and press the export button or select from the menu the export dialog window does not pop up and I am only able to select export previous or export with profile. The export entry in the file menu is blacked out and not selectable. Is this a new feature???

has anyone else had problems with the lightroom 2.6 download? when i download it a message comes up and says the file is corrupt (zip file) and I can’t open it.
Amy,
Glad it worked for you. You’ll probably be fine running 2.6RC as your primary application (it should be stable). Be sure you back up your catalog, though. That’s just a good rule no matter what version you’re using!

Ugh. I can’t even type my own name properly (for my previous comment). o.O
(And although the installation notes say that I can install 2.6RC alongside my old 2.5, I did not think to rename or move my existing Lightroom app, so I think my 2.5 is overwritten. I guess 2.6 is my production app going forward. But I’m happy!)
YAY! Lightroom 2.6RC fixes my problem with artifacts in Raw files from my Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D! I had thought my camera was starting to break down. (Minolta DSLRs have had quite a variety of hardware and firmware issues over the years.)
I had been running Lightroom 2.5 on my dual 2.0GHz Power Mac G5 but hadn’t suspected software of causing my problems until I saw the release notes for Lightroom 2.6. Minolta DSLR technology is the basis for Sony DSLRs, so I was hopeful that the bug fix would work for me – and it does! Thank you!
