Lions, Tigers, Bears, Lightroom, and More – Wildlife Photography Workshop
With all the buzz about the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Beta release this week, why not take some time to get some fantastic wildlife images, quality photography instruction, and as much Lightroom Q&A as you can handle?
Jeff Wendorff, professional outdoor and wildlife instructor, is teaching the Lions, Tigers, and Bears Wildlife Photography Workshop next week with Photographers Alliance Workshops. I’ll be joining him for a couple of days to present some Lightroom and Photoshop workflow information, as well as answer any questions you may have on Lightroom (2 or 3…or 1, for that matter).
This workshop takes place in Kalispell, Montana in the Flathead River Valley below the peaks of Glacier National Park. This is a gorgeous part of the country and our hosts at the Triple D Ranch take full advantage of the scenery in the valley when we photograph their wildlife.

You’ll love photographing wildlife here for the simple reason that it is one of the only places on the planet that you will be able to photograph some of these animals. Seriously, where else are you going to photograph a Mountain Lion and a Snow Leopard in the same morning and have the shots look like they were taken in the wild? The experience that you will have on this workshop will last you a lifetime. I warn you that you will become addicted to photographing here. I don’t know anyone that has only done it once! I’ve been here at least 10 times and I’ve never had the same experience. Even though I have photographed the mountain lions many times I’ve never had a duplicate shot. So fair warning is given, sign up once and you’ll sign up for a return visit!
There is never a bad time of the year for this workshop. We’ve chosen the fall for this trip because the temperatures are mellow; the animals have their winter thick fur and look great.
Trying to describe the highlights of this workshop is a tall order because the whole trip is a highlight reel. The images that you take will be shown to your friends and family forever. We call it Lions, Tigers and Bears because we will literally photograph those animals and we’ll be photographing a lot more than that.

It is very exciting photographing Mountain Lions and wolf packs from such close proximity. There is a very real risk that you will experience an adrenaline rush that may cause you to forget to breathe and to blink. In really bad cases it can make you forget to push the shutter release on your camera. That’s where we come in. We’re there to make sure that you get the shot and to keep you breathing long enough to get you back home safely.
Jeff and I have been photographing here for many years both as students, instructors, and on our own. We have a thorough knowledge of how to get the best images, and we’ll be sharing those tricks and tips with you. As I said earlier and I think it bears repeating, I am there to teach and not to photograph. You’ll get the shots I would have taken if you weren’t there and they will be images you’ll be proud of. I’ve also photographed at all of the locations the ranch offers and I’ll be working for you with the owners to make sure that we use the best locations with the best wildlife. We’ll rarely use a location more than once, so your images will appear as if you have spent countless hours in the wilds getting these images. It’ll be up to you if you tell the truth because your friends won’t be able to tell.
The workshop is October 28 – November 1, 2009 and the cost is $1495.

Ah man how I’d love to do this!
I had a 4 day safari in Africa and was blown away, but wanted more wild and ‘real life’ mammals – and a great teacher like SR here would have given me an edge to surpassing ‘average’ shots.
