Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.5

Apple has released an update for camera RAW support for Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard. This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2, iPhoto ’08, and iPhoto ’09 for the following cameras:

  • Nikon D3X
  • Epson R-D1x

Apple also notes that this update “addresses issues related to specific cameras and overall stability.” You can download this update by opening up Software Update (Apple menu -> Software Update) or by downloading the installer package from the Apple Support downloads site.

These updates don’t affect the readability of RAW files in Lightroom or Photoshop (Adobe Camera Raw), but rather allow files to be viewed natively in the Finder on the Mac and in Apple’s image editing programs such as iPhoto and Aperture.
