Windows XP Still Available

October 27, 2008 | Scott Rouse | Comments 0

For those who are set on using a Windows machine for your photo editing instead of a Mac, the frustrations of Microsoft’s Vista operating system can be almost too much to handle. These days it’s tough to find a reseller who’s willing to sell you a machine with Windows XP Professional pre-installed, but XP is arguably the best operating system that Microsoft has come up with.

If you’d like to have Windows XP Professional on your machine, you can still (for a limited time) purchase it at Amazon.com and downgrade your existing Vista installation to a more stable operating system. Click here to be taken right to the page.

PCMag.com offers this article on how to downgrade your Vista installation to XP. They demonstrate a way to do it without reformatting your hard drive, but, for the best results, I recommend a total reformat and re-install.

In case you haven’t noticed my preference for a photographer’s laptop, you should read this article.
