I need to have been more clear on this...sorry. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) refers to the technology used to show the different colors and objects on your computer's screen. LED (Light Emitting Diode) refers only to the light source that projects light through the screen for your viewing pleasure. So, in this case, LED displays are still using LCD technology. Older flat-panel displays (LCD) used small fluorescent bulbs as a back-lighting source.
So, I prefer the LED as a light source for my LCD display. Confused? Me, too. :-)
Any flat-panel computer display is, most likely, an LCD monitor (as opposed to the old TV set-looking giants known as CRT, or Cathode Ray Tube). The choice to make is whether to have it backlit with LED or fluorescent lighting. I prefer LED for the reasons I listed in the November 11th comment to Adam.

Thanks for your question. I'll try to put together an article in the next couple of days that explains this a bit better.
For now, I'd say that the main advantages are:
-LED display is a bit brighter (on average) than all but the 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays
-New display has a slightly larger viewing angle (8 degrees larger)
-New display has a contrast ratio that's about 2.5 times greater than the other displays (not a huge deal)
-Theoretically, the new LED displays could reach full brightness faster and produce a more even illumination than the previous generation displays, but I don't think anyone would really notice
They're available at the <a href="http://www.applestoreaffiliates.com/t.aspx?kbid=1181&sub=lrlab&p=http%3a%2f%2fstore.apple.com%2fAppleStore%2fWebObjects%2fBizCustom%3fqprm%3d484614%26cid%3dAOS-US-KOW-BPRO%26aosid%3dp212%26kbid%3d1181&m=15" rel="nofollow">Apple Online Store</a>.
