So then I downloaded the free trial of LR 2 and can print (thank goodness!). The problem now is that I selected to upgrade my catalog and none of my photos opens. Actually the weird part is that before I relaunched LR 2 some of my photos opened and some of them were just fuzzy but you could still see them with the message "The file named XXX is offline or missing." Now that I relaunched LR 2 I can't see any of my photos and I get this message for every one. Can you tell me what I've done wrong?
Thanks a bunch!

Glad I could help and actual I am going to turn our conversation into a quick post since I know that others have the same question. I agree that the Adobe site is not as friendly as it should be but I think the Adobe Forums is a great resource.
Next time you need technical help take a look for the answer, or start a new thread, over to
http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom
Glad we could help.

This one is easy. You cannot install Lightroom v2. under Snow Leopard (10.6) from the original disk. You just need to download the latest version from Adobe and then key in your serial number. Here's a link to Adobe's download page.

Lightroom 1.1 has been installed without any problems. I already have both installed on my pc laptop. I thought that could install on two computers? Is there a license issue ? When I try to install v2 it refers me to the software owner.
thanks

Sorry for the delayed response. If you are currently using Lightroom 2 and you see your images in the catalog, then it has been upgraded. Lightroom 2 cannot open and view a Lightroom 1 catalog without converting (upgrading) it to a Lightroom 2 catalog. That Lightroom 2 catalog is not backwardly compatible to Lightroom 1.
Let me know if that doesn't answer your question. I promise to get back to you in a more timely fashion in the future. :-)

If you want your photos from your Lightroom 1 catalog to appear in Lightroom 2, you'll want to upgrade. Lightroom will keep a copy of your original Lightroom 1 catalog, as explained in the article above.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
